MGK Academy (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates as a registered educational institution in the Republic of Zimbabwe. This Privacy, Media, and Cookie Policy governs all digital interactions, media processing, data collection, and electronic communications conducted through our official website (https://mgk-academy.co.zw), online web forms, WhatsApp communication endpoints, and administrative portals.

This policy is structured in compliance with the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07] of Zimbabwe, monitored by the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) acting as the Data Protection Authority, alongside Section 57 (Right to Privacy) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 20) Act 2013.

2. Scope of Consent & Non-Disclosure Guarantee

By visiting this website, submitting inquiry or enrollment forms, or engaging with our digital platforms, parents, legal guardians, prospective students, and visitors (“Data Subjects”) grant express, informed consent for the administrative processing of submitted data as outlined below.

Non-Monetization Guarantee: MGK Academy categorically guarantees that personal data, contact details, financial records, and student information will never be sold, rented, traded, or shared with commercial third parties or external brokers under any circumstances.

3. Student Media, Photography & EXIF Metadata Policy

MGK Academy publishes photos and videos documenting academic, sporting, cultural, and extra-curricular campus life to celebrate student achievements and share school activities with our community.

  • Parental Consent & Enrollment Mandate: Photos and videos of students are published in accordance with the media consent agreements signed by parents or legal guardians during official student enrollment.
  • Automated EXIF/GPS Metadata Stripping: All image files uploaded to our website are automatically processed to permanently strip embedded Exchangeable Image File Format (EXIF) metadata, including device GPS coordinates, location tags, and camera serial numbers, preventing any external digital location tracking.
  • Parental Revocation & Media Takedown Rights: Parents or legal guardians retain the absolute right to request the removal, blurring, or deletion of any public image or video featuring their child. Formal takedown requests can be emailed directly to admissions@mgk-academy.co.zw and will be processed within 48 business hours.

4. Information We Collect & Purpose of Processing

In accordance with Section 18 of the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07], data collection is strictly limited to necessary administrative and educational purposes:

  • Inquiry & Application Data: Legal names, phone numbers, email addresses, residential details, emergency contacts, academic records, and relevant medical notes provided voluntarily during admissions or contact inquiries.
  • Technical & Diagnostics Data: IP addresses, browser types, referral links, and session activity collected automatically to ensure website stability, prevent malicious activity, and protect against automated spam submissions.

5. Third-Party Embedded Content

Our website may include embedded third-party content (such as Google Maps for campus directions or embedded video overviews). Embedded content from third-party sites behaves in the exact same manner as if the visitor visited the external site directly, and these third parties may collect basic operational data or use cookies under their respective policies.

6. Data Retention, Security & Parental Access Rights

MGK Academy implements technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration in accordance with Section 19 of the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07]. Student records and admissions inquiries are retained strictly for administrative, statutory, and audit purposes under Zimbabwean law. Parents and legal guardians have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their contact information from our active records.
